Our Story: The Shoes That Started It All

Every mission has a beginning, and ours starts with a pair of sneakers.

Years ago, a young boy grew up without shoes. It wasn't unusual for the time and place — many children went without. But everything changed the day the Catholic Mission gave him his very first pair of sneakers. He wore them to school. He wore them to church. He wore them on the days that mattered most, the ones where showing up looking presentable made all the difference in how he was seen and how he saw himself.

That boy grew up to be a father who made a quiet promise to himself: his own children would never know what it felt like to go without shoes on their feet.

Passing It Forward

That promise didn't stop with one household. Watching his father's example — the way something as simple as a pair of shoes could restore a child's dignity — inspired the next generation to extend that same care outward. Not just to immediate family, but to relatives, friends, and children throughout the community who needed the same kind of support.

That's the spirit behind our mission today: no student or pupil should have to go to school without proper shoes.
